Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar,Left Handed, Heritage Cherry Sunburst

This review is from: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar,Left Handed, Heritage Cherry SunburstI originally bought this because the price was right - it was brand new and discounted slightly so getting a new Les Paul Flame Top for less that two grand was too good to be true.Boy, did I NOT anticipate how great this instrument sounds and feels. And, the beautiful maple top is indistinguishable from the pricier, rare, Flametop R9s. The neck is thick and great and just simple a joy to play. I've never had a pleck'd guitar, but it's miles from my old rickety les pauls and sgs; it's an innovation that I can't stress enough! This is the one guitar I don't think I"ll ever part with - I could become homeless, but I'll be playing this Flametop Les Paul.Seriously if you're a lefty looking at options, and if you like the thicker neck, this is your dream guitar.Well done Gibson USA....

This review is from: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar,Left Handed, Heritage Cherry SunburstFirst off, getting this from Amazon was a great way to go for a lefty. Normally lefties don't get the pick of the litter when it comes to guitars in guitar stores, but here I felt like I did. Even though I didn't get to try the guitar before buying, I wasn't worried. Regular stores have to order the higher end guitars anyway and you have to put a deposit down prior to them ordering it. So as a lefty, you wouldn't get to try it before it got there anyway. The Les Paul Traditional is a really, really, nice guitar. This being my first Les Paul, it is everything I expected it to be and more! If you like thick necks, you'll like the feel of this one. The resonance is real woody and sustain on this guitar can go on forever. I also play a Fender 51 Reissue Tele and this is definitely in the same class build wise and sound-wise (although, of course a whole different sound). The only thing that sucked about the guitar was that it was not set up good at all. I would have considered this a total dud if I didn't know better. I've ordered other guitars online before and I know I'm getting a set up done at the factory right before they ship it. With that said, the factory set up on this one really sucked. I had fret buzz from 1-5 and the intonation was a bit off on strings 1-3. Since I'm no pro, it took me about 5 hours over a span of two days to slowly set it up to where it needed to be. If you have never set up a guitar before or are too timid to do your own set up on this guitar, expect to take it to a shop to get it dialed in just right. Once you do, you'll have a keeper for life!! :D...

This review is from: Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar,Left Handed, Heritage Cherry SunburstIf you are looking at this guitar when played you will see that the "Les Paul" lettering on the head stock and the "standard" lettering on the truss rod cover are upside down. I know this is purely cosmetic but for 2300 bucks this guitar should be perfect....
