The few other "glowing" reviews of this guitar did not really get my hopes up. Everything I read sounded as if it was written by a beginner guitarist. I just bought this guitar to have something to throw in the corner at the office, that I can pluck on a little bit at lunch break and that I won't care about the cleaning crew stealing. And that, my friends, is all you get for $199. If you expect any more than that, well, you just haven't lived very long. One hundred and ninety-nine dollars is a stupid price and, for that, you get a stupid guitar. Immediately, the weird coating on the pick guard starting peeling off along with the "EMG Designed" sticker. I guess the pick guard is painted to look old. It just really looks kind of stupid. The silly "anodized" coating on the hardware is about awful. One can see the dripping from the overspray. The "distressed" body is OK, I guess, if it really is Alder. I dunno. But, I can see scratches all over the body that look more like these were unintentionally made through poor handling procedures on the way to my door, not the shipping, mind you, but the lousy factory handling. The fret wire is still sharp on the edge of the fretboard, and will cut the inside of your palms if you don't immediately take care of that. The plastic nut is worthless. The tremolo bridge is less than worthless. The "EMG Designed" pups make you sound like you are playing into a pillow. The intonation, well, what's that? That's right, there really is no intonation on this guitar. I'm going to keep it, though, because, like I said, I just wanted something I wouldn't care about the cleaning crew stealing from the office. And I got exactly that. My other guitars? Fender USA Deluxe Strat and Tele, Ibanez Artcore hollow body, Eastman semi-hollow, Brian Moore iGuitar, Breedlove acoustic, none of which cost less than 800 bucks and none of which I will ever leave at the office. The cases for those guitars are better constructed than this guitar. This guitar, well, I really don't care. I can practice fingering/picking technique, ignoring the actual sound/intonation, and that's about all. Without a lot of upgrades (new pups, tuning keys, nut, bridge, electronics, dress the frets, etc., this thing is what it is, and that ain't much. If you're a beginner, this might be a great guitar. If you've played a while, steer clear because this is just a throw away....

For the money you can't beat them. Nice high output pickups with good tone, action and intonation. Four of the five pkup settings have that wonderful vintage strat sound and the bridge is for the harder stuff. Great for blues, heavy metal or whatever you're intoThe styling of the badwater series is distinctive to say the least and they each look slightly different. Package arrived on time and in good condition....
