This review is from: Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HH (Black - Maple Fingerboard) Electric GuitarI've owned several Fender American Strats over the years including the Big Apple which I loved. I was a bit leery on purchasing a Mexican Strat as I felt they just didn't have the feel, hardware, electronics and fit and finish of the American models. Because of the HH design, black body, maple neck and of course the price, I had to give one of these Strat Blacktops a shot. I figured I could upgrade hardware and electronics if need be. What a surprise! This guitar is really put together well. No slop between the neck and body, fit and finish is top notch. The pickups are actually quite good. I was anticipating having to swap them out, but they really give me that humbucking depth and tone at the 1 and 5 positions and still get the Fender sound at the 2 and 4. It does sound different than the SD pickups on the Big Apple Strat, but still thick and heavy when dialed in. The neck feels and looks great. I like the 9.5 radius and the gloss finish has that vintage tint to it which looks beautiful with the black body. The only minuses I have are the fret ends are just a little sharp (but not uncomfortable) and the guitar doesn't stay in tune as well as I like when playing hard. Could be the nut or tuners. I leaning towards the nut, but I haven't examined them yet to see. Other than those minor issues, this guitar is a keeper!...

And the effort they went to in helping me out was extreme. To say I love this guitar is an understatement. It damn near plays itself and my playing has improved out of site since I took delivery. I could not believe when I plugged it into my Marshall amp that there was nothing but silence until I started to play. Other guitars have given me small, but noticeable, feedback but his beauty was absolutely silent. Playability is supreme, in fact I picked up a "deluxe" Start the other day and it came nowhere near offering the ease of which this baby allows you to play. I was lucky enough to pick up the last one in the shop and I see there are a few still kicking around but I would recommend if you are looking to buy A Clapton Strat you act swiftly because they do not stay on the shelves for very long....

The floyd rose tremolo works very well, along with the locking nuts, which cause the guitar to never go out of tune. It has a great metal sound, you can have the amp on clean and still hear a little bit of distortion from the seymour duncan's, which can be split to achieve a nicer clean. Overall great guitar, i would recommend it, the only thing i don't like is that the floyd rose makes it hard to change the tuning....

When I saw that there were only for left (now only 1) i said to myself "i GOTTA have it!". So me being deployed with only a few months left decided to get it as a deployment present for when I get back. I'm still "noob" at playing guitar even though my buddy is teaching me but he owns the same guitar given to him by Synyster Gates himself at a concert in Seattle. SO yeah the finish, style and quality is one of the best. Its a must have....
