Dean Hardtail Guitar, Select Trans Red

This review is from: Dean Hardtail Guitar, Select Trans RedI've had this guitar for 3 years. I've used it for dozens of shows and extensively in a home/studio environment as my primary tracking guitar.Likes:*Sound and tone control - The pickup selector allows you to select between one or both humbucker pickups. You can also single/double-tap the pickups by pulling up or pushing down on the tone knobs to mix and match single-coil sounds. The range of tones this guitar can produce is surprising.*Action - I like the spacing and size of the frets. If you set the string height at the right height, this guitar can shred and it is very fun to play.*Finish - the paint, style, and color are gorgeous with the silver hardware.*Light Weight - At first I thought this guitar was too light and wouldn't give me much sustain, but it's really not that noticeable compared to similar heavier guitars.*Tuners are great, stays in tune.Dislikes:*Lost a star for road-worthy durability. One of the double tap knobs eventually got pulled out of the socket (still working not fix that one). The wood on the headstock cracked during a show because it fell a short distance off a guitar stand into some drywall. This was not a particularly hard or violent fall. I have other guitars that have survived much worse.*When shipped brand-new, one of the frets had a small groove on the neck that caused the high-e string to get stuck off the fretboard occasionally. A minor Q/A flaw I easily resolved with a small dab of industrial wood glue. Bottom Line:* For the features, tone, and looks at this price, I would certainly purchase this guitar again. It's served me very well....
