The Squier looked nicer and had a better finish, but in my opinion, Peavey's electronics are far better. This guitar sounds pretty nice and is quite versatile. From a good clean sound, to blues, to jazz rock, to heavy-metal, this guitar can do it all. The Squier had too much noise in the pickups. The Peavey had way less noise and was better-sounding overall. Couple this to a Vox DA5 amp and you have a sweet little electric guitar setup for less than $300....

I bought the Peavey to do a wiring mod I found online and basically fell in love with this guitar. It is shorter, lighter, and the 'belly' cutout on the back is deeper. It is so much easier to play than the Squier Strat. As others have said it took some tweeking to get the intonation and string height just right but lots of good websites to tell you how to do that. Love the bridge humbucker pickup for hard rock. The neck pickup plays Jimi's stuff pretty well. Like I said it is way better than the Squier....
This review is from: Raptor Plus EXP Sunburst Electric GuitarFor this amount of money there is no better guitar. The raptor exp sounds and feels much better than any fender squier series guitar. It may require some simple setup tweaks (you can find pretty simple guides to guitar setup anywhere online) but it does sound good. It is very light compared to a fender, it has a pretty thin neck, and the pickups produce sound that has a lot of color to it. I used mine as a cheap guitar to do some cosmetic customization but I was surprised to find out that it is my favorite guitar to play with. Just make sure you use good strings to unlock it's true potential....
