This review is from: Washburn Idol Series WI18QTR Electric GuitarI am a beginner guitarist if I may say so. I am on the first page of the level 1 book :) I was initially looking for a guitar for my daughter when I found this. She wanted a strat looking guitar. She was pushing me to get into this with her and since the price was right ($157) I bought it. It arrived quickly and in excellent condition (no crushed box or any damage during shipment). As far as I can tell it was pretty well set up. My daughter's guitar it took almost a week to stay in tune, but this one was no issue. Since then I show it to a couple of friends and my guitar teacher. They all loved it and they just could not believe how much I paid for it.Regarding the comment on the Buzz-Feiten system....I do not think this one has it...on the Washburn website they say all US made Washburns have it standard (this one was not made in US)....and also it should have the Buzz-Feiten logo applied on the back of the head. check out the pictures for the NEW WASHBURN PRO PREACHER ELECTRIC GUITAR+CASE and you'll see what I am talking about.A couple of cons....it is red (looks better then in the picture) you'll have to dust it daily :). The other....I had a hard time to get a nice hard case for it. It is just a bit wider 0,25" here and there so will be snugg in most of the cases. Washburn apparently has a hard case for the idols the GC-40. I am in the process of getting one with the hope that all idol bodies are identical and no surprise.......
This review is from: Washburn Idol Series WI18QTR Electric GuitarI Ordered this guitar from amazon and when I received the guitar I was very surprised and happy. This guitar seems well built, this is the first washburn guitar that I've bought. I like a flatter fingerboard and the 14 inch radius is why I was interested in this guitar. Has a set mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, mahogany body and quilted maple top veneer. The quilted maple top looks really nice, the neck joint looks good, Frets are smooth, nice binding on neck and headstock, rosewood has some light wood grain but mostly dark grain, diamond inlays are a nice touch. Neck looks straight and mine played good right out of the box. I will setup intonation and maybe a slight tweek of the neck once it has acclimated a few days. I was a little concerned about shipment in the cold weather but the neck looks great. The guitar has grover tuners and maybe buzz feiten tuning system, according to another web seller, I am not sure about that. I plugged it into an amp (Fender 25R) and I am surprised again, sound is great, tone knobs really tweak the tone. I like the neck and the bridge pickups, they have plenty of bite. Keep in mind I have only played it for less than 10 minutes. About the only thing I have found wrong is the neck pickup tone knob may need to be tightened slightly, its not loose but if I turn it hard it moves slightly, not a big deal. I have several other nice guitars and this is also a nice guitar, its a keeper....
