Dean Z 79 Guitar, Set Neck, Classic Black

This review is from: Dean Z 79 Guitar, Set Neck, Classic BlackDon't buy this guitar. Unless you want to be blown away by it's sheer beauty, tone, lightness, and slick playability. When I first took it out of the box all I wanted to do was stare for a long period of time. It's magnificent. And when I played it I was not disappointed. I want more. I want it in white with black binding and another copy of this one for backup. This guitar is my baby. I cant believe its this cheap. Must be a typo.. lol. Actually I take that back. Must be a DEAN!(p.s. I was actually sorta serious when I said don't buy this guitar because I'm selfish and there are limited quantities and I want them for myself but what the heck. Buy it. Love it. ROck out....

This review is from: Dean Z 79 Guitar, Set Neck, Classic BlackThis thing is so 70's hard rock it hurts. Seriously. Set neck, abalone inlays, and zebra buckers that crunch like crazy through a Bassman, JCM800, or Boogie. I just wish Dean would list the pickups' specs (or sell them separately)!...

This review is from: Dean Z 79 Guitar, Set Neck, Classic BlackI have 2 of these Dean 79 Z guitars - 1 in black and 1 in white. I got the black one first as a birthday gift from a bunch of friends. I was so happy with the way it looked, felt and played, I purchased another one in white. I did change the pickups in both guitars, but for HUNDREDS of dollars less than a Gibson Explorer, which start at around $1300, I have 2 AWESOME guitars. The black one has Seymour Duncan pickups, and the white one has the Zakk Wylde EMG set. They wound up costing about $800 each, with all of the parts and labor. Not too bad - about $500 less than a stock Explorer.Since I liked the Z's so much, I sold my Gibson Les Paul Studio and purchased a Dean Cadillac, which I also fitted with Seymour Duncan pickups. Again, way less money than a Les Paul.I play in an original hard rock band, and I use these Deans regularly for recording and gigging. If I were to purchase another guitar, I would go with another Dean, hands down....
