This review is from: Line 6 James Tyler Variax JTV-59 Modeling Electric Guitar; BlackI purchased a JTV-59 a soon as they became available. There is a problem with the this model...all colors...the model selector switch is faulty. After playing the guitar for a few minutes the model selector switch stops working. It is happening to MANY, if not all, guitars...go to the Line 6 customer forum and check to see if they have resolved the problem. The other models do not have this problem...only the JTV-59. It's not clear at this point if the problem is hardware or firmware. I sent mine back...I will wait until they have this issue fixed before I reconsider buying another one....
This review is from: Line 6 James Tyler Variax JTV-59 Modeling Electric Guitar; BlackI ordered one of these in January and received it at the end of April. It was definitely worth the wait. I love this guitar. If you are a Les Paul guy like me, this guitar will feel very familiar. The finish is beautiful with the "caramel" binding against the black. The factory set up was very nice although I had to lower the action just a touch for my own preference and the neck feels 'buttery" and is very easy to play. I've tried all it's many features and everything works flawlessly. The alternate tuning knob is especially useful, not to mention just fun. The only criticism I have at all is that the models have less volume than the magnetic pickups but unless you're changing between the two mid-song, it's really not a problem. By the way, I love the sound of the mag pups too. They sound better than my Gibsons. I've owned a Variax since 2003 and this new Variax is a big improvement over the original one. I would highly recommend this for anyone who records, plays in a cover band or just wants a high tech toy that will keep you entertained for years....
