This review is from: Hohner B2ADB-BK Headless Electric Bass (4 String, Black)I received my bass and the clutch tuning knob was snapped off of the bridge due to poor packing. Amazon replaced it immediately and despite the second bass again being poorly packed, it arrive intact. This is a good bass. The bridge tuner adjustments are a little coarse compared to head tuners but they do work once you get used to them. The drop-D clutch does not seem to hold tune but since I do not use I am not worried about it. The bass sounds good, easy to play, much lighter than my Ibanez bass and the pre-amp works very well. The bass arrives with little to no instructions so you may want to research it before buying. I was able to get instructions off the internet. Make sure you unplug after playing or you will quickly kill the pre-amp battery if you leave it plugged in. Accessing the electronics requires removing several screws and the panel on mine was fitted so tightly I had to pry it off. A lithium 9V battery is recommended for longer battery life. The finish is very good. The neck is straight and it was pretty close to setup straight out of the box. I am enjoying playing it....
This review is from: Hohner B2ADB-BK Headless Electric Bass (4 String, Black)I received my bass and the neck was shattered due to poor packing and the fretboard delaminated from the neck due to poor construction. Amazon ordered a replacement while mine was enroute back to ' Returns dept' and another authorization on my credit card as collateral. The bass arrived with no case, in a small flimsy trapeziod box that was not taped shut; consequently the guitar excaped its flimsy pack into the picnic table sized outer box. Imagine the rest. Guitar came with NO instructions, a small guage lead cord , and a tiny zip lok bag with 3 allen wrenches. The finish is very mat, but the neck/truss rod end begs to be beefed up beyond 2 tiny screws down those massive strings. If I had more money I'd get the 'real deal' from a music store, and packed caring instrument pro's. I have no problem with Amazon sales or customer service, they are the greatest, but the packing dept has repeatedly over my 15 years of Amazon purchases, done a dis-service to the overall appeal of what is Amazon. Everthing ships in larger than life boxes, welcoming the movement of already pooly packed foreign things. I'll go back to buying books from Amazon and instruments from music stores. I'm waiting to see if my replacement item/parcel shows any evidence of improvement on account of the packers heeding the notes/instructions ( 60 characater field) from the cust-serv dept half way across the world....
