This review is from: Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar, Classic White - Chrome HardwareI have had two of these in the last decade,one in heritage cherry,the one I have now in white.I sold the cherry one a few years back after getting a custom guitar ,and I missed it so much I had to get another. The truth that nobody seems to want to say is that with this guitar and the V,Gibson pretty much made the best off the shelf metal guitars of the time...and they still hold up,right off the shelf. The 500t in the bridge is an amazing pickup...hands down best passive pickup for hard rock/metal...under high gain it is super quiet,but chunky and raw as hell.It has enough clarity to pick out separated notes in a chord under high gain,and enough harmonics and squeal to please anyone... ESP has been putting out guitar after guitar of pure metal goodness,and kudos to them for giving the metal crowd what we want,but in the $1300 price range you are not going to beat the stock Explorer......
