B.C. Rich Mockingbird ST Guitar, Trans Honey Burst with Ebony Stringers

This review is from: B.C. Rich Mockingbird ST Guitar, Trans Honey Burst with Ebony StringersI picked this guitar up a while ago from a local music store and I LOVE it. It's beautiful, it can play ANY genre, it's just amazing. The RockField mafia pickups are great, and it comes with tap coil effects, A reverse phase effect switch, and a five position varitone filter.I have made great use of the taps so far, fun to play around with, the factory strings aren't bad, but I would recommend a nice set of strings.I love the Floyd Rose, but it's so hard to tune it.Great paint job, I got the honeyburst, and the pictures don't do it justice, great action, but I got mine set even lower, it's great.Overall, great guitar, it's not named the "Mockingbird" for nothing, you can make any sound with this guitar, and paired with a good amp you can do anything.Seriously, go buy one....

This review is from: B.C. Rich Mockingbird ST Guitar, Trans Honey Burst with Ebony StringersI have to agree with the previous reviewer. This guitar is not only gorgeous to look at, it is gorgeous to hear and play. I had a Handcrafted BC Rich Mockingbird SL before, and wasn't happy with the tone. It was too dark. It was sold to me as having Seymour Duncan JB's. After playing my 3 Jackson SL2H's with JB's, I am convinced that it didn't have JB's in it, and I sold it. I was reluctant to buy this guitar not knowing what to expect. The Rockfield Mafia pickups are a joy! Their tone is so full, and well balanced both clean, and overdriven. The coil taps allow you to change from humbucking to single coils and strum chords without getting muddy, and both bridge and neck pickups sound great. These are easily my favorite pickups right alongside my Gibson Les Pauls 498T.The Floyd Rose is the best tremelo you can have. It stays in tune, and does incredible dive bombs, and pitch changes without fail. If you are familiar with a Floyd Rose, you will learn how to re-string it without too much trouble. The ebony fingerboard is the smoothest fingerboard I've ever played, whether it is on this brand or another. Nothing else compares to ebony, with jumbo frets. The action is set up low, but with a half turn on the truss rod, and a turn or two on the bridge height allowed me to lower it even more, almost as low as my Soloists. The finish and look of the quilt maple top is spectacular. I don't know when I ever played and looked at a more beautiful instrument under $700.00. The bottom line is, I absolutely love this guitar. I stand it right next to my other higher end instruments....
