Godin SD 22 Electric Guitar (Black Pearl RN)

This review is from: Godin SD 22 Electric Guitar (Black Pearl RN)- The neck is make from Rock Maple. Generally grown in only cold climate. It is a very stable wood and perfect for a guitar neck. The neck is really easy to get your hands around.- The body is made from maple and poplar. The center portion of the guitar body is maple and the outer wings are poplar. Poplar wood is a lighter wood which reduces the weight of the guitar making it more enjoyable to play. Compared to my "heavy" Les Paul, this is a big deal.- Strap lock stems are standard on this guitar.- Tuners turn smoothly and stay in tune.- Pickups are very good. The bridge humbucker has great tones for lead guitar and the center and neck single coil pickups give this guitar a nice mix of tones.- The bridge like the rest of the guitar have adjustments for height and intonation. The metal looks as if it is precision make for height and intonation adjustments. - This guitar is totally under rated. Great bang for the buck. I own a USA Tele, USA Start and USA Les Paul and this guitar holds it's own. Even the deeply knurled knobs make my Strat and Les Paul look cheap.- Finally I did need to adjust the height of the pickups to get the tone I wanted. For some reason the pickups are set very low from the strings. You simply hold the strings down on the last fret and adjust the clearance between the string and the pickup to what you desire. 1/16" is where I adjusted mine and it sounds soooo sweet!- Although I love my telecaster the most, this guitar is like a combination of a Les Paul and a Strat. You can't go wrong buying it. I just don't know why you don't hear more about the Godin electric's....

This review is from: Godin SD 22 Electric Guitar (Black Pearl RN)I have been through a few guitars after I got back into playing several years ago. I got a Gibson Les Paul in a trade for an 74 MG Midget I had. I really liked it and actually bought another Gibson type guitar, an EPIPHONE Riveria P93, the head angles are the same. I saw the Jeff Beck at Ronnie Scotts and the Fender Strat he was playing. I had to try one so I got a Squire Affinity and really enjoyed the easy bending of notes. I was going to get a Fender Strat but saw an AD for Godin Guitars in PG Mag and read alot about them. I found this Godin SD22 on Amazon and the price was incredible, I bought it and have played nothing but it since. I want to get a GODIN Xtsa actually and spend a few more dollars. So that is my next purchase but for now I will be lovin thsi SD22....
