This review is from: Schecter Damien Elite Electric Guitar FR - Crimson RedThis is the 9th guitar that I've owned. I've had guitars with Floyd Rose bridges in the past and always liked the adjustability and design. Even with that said, in hindsight, I'd probably get one with a fixed bridge if I did it all over again. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice option to have and this one works very well, but I dont' use it enough to justify the hassle of unlocking the nut for course tuning when you want to drop a 1/2 step or use drop D tuning. On the upside, this guitar is gorgeous. The finish is something you'd expect on a guitar at 2 to 3 times the price. It really glows. It arrived with good playability out of the box and didn't need any setup work. The active EMG's are a great selling point and add a lot of sizzle and zing to lead guitar work. The neck pickup get's a nice crunchy, full bodied sound and works great for buttery solo's and also compresses nicely for jazz. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this guitar again if need be, but it appears very solid, nice tone and volume knobs and just has a quality feel to it. I doubt I'll need to ever replace it. The neck plays pretty fast and the ebony fretboard, inlays and fretwork are top notch I can higly recommend this one and it's definitely worth the money over a comparable Ibanez or ESP....
This review is from: Schecter Damien Elite Electric Guitar FR - Crimson RedI bought this guitar as a christmas gift to myself and I couldn't be happier. This guitar is amazing.I have been playing now for about two years on an Ibanez and an acoustic and this is what I have observed so far.Pros,-the look-the depth and space between the frets makes it very easy to play, I have larger fingers/hands so this is important to me-the range of tone is excellent and the pickups are amazing -price, for what you get, this guitar is a steal-Mine came pretuned with D'addaro strings-The cutaway lets me get to all the frets without hitting the body-I wouldn't say it's heavy but it has a sturdy weight, and it's well balanced. I guess it feels solid to me.-Everything on this guitar makes me feel like it's built to lastCons,-The floyd rose makes is slightly difficult to palm mute. I have to play the guitar lower or I end up wah-ing it.-The nut has system that "locks" the strings down. This is a part of the floyd rose to help keep the guitar in tune. However I like to play a range of music and this makes changing it do drop-D or drop-C a pain. You can't make big changes without an allen wrench. But you can make minor changes from the floydOverall I think you can't get a better electric guitar for the price. I went into guitar center and played around for hours and I like this guitar better than many of the 1,000 dollar guitars....
