This review is from: G&L Tribute Legacy Guitar (Blueburst, Hard Rock Maple Neck)Seeing the lack of a review for this product, I'll try to help you guys out. I've owned a Tribute Legacy for about 3 years now, and I've always loved it. I sold a Fender (MIM) Deluxe Super Strat to get it, and I've never looked back. This guitar is what the Fender Standard Strat wishes it could be, for the same price. The quality and cut of the maple used for the neck is far superior, The USA made alnico pickups sound much better than the standard Fender pickups or even the Tex-Mex pickups. The two-point fulcrum tremolo is much more usable, easier to set up, has better tuning stability, and a higher mass block for more sustain. And the Korean build quality is great, at least as good as the recent Japanese Fenders. I've owned a lot of Fenders, and always liked them, but I would put the Tribute Legacy up against any MIM or MIJ Fender and even the USA Highway 1 series. Great Guitar... only $499?? Get two!!...
This review is from: G&L Tribute Legacy Guitar (Blueburst, Hard Rock Maple Neck)never mind all of the cheeseball stuff out thereeverything about this guitar is very strongexcept of course the gig bag.you might want a solid case to hold this top of the line guitarif only Jimi had lived to see one . . .I am having a lot of heart-curing holding mine.just found one in a pawn shop and even though I knew better, could not walk awaycame backI used to sit in the guitar shop loving a G&L F-1000 back when they first came out maybe a quarter century ago; and it was beautiful and truly a sound, like an oak tree crying. Biggest thing I had ever bought, I put it on lay-away at the shop. When I got the rest of my pennies together and went back for it, they had sold it to someone else, and told me to take some pedals instead.I wanted my guitar, and felt stolen and scammed, but too shy to complain, and took a few pedals to match what I had already put down. But I always just wanted my G&L . . .You, see, the way I heard it, Leo Fender, the one who started it all with the Strat and the Tele, he got tossed when some major corporation took over his little guitar company, and cheapened his guitars, real cheesey. So he went out and started G&L and IMPROVED his already great classic electric guitars.Like putting a whammy bar system in here which RETURNS TO TUNE AND TO PITCH.Instead of finding the strings all over the place when you return from that shimmy, all the strings are still in tune, together, and on pitch.I find all of the necks on electric guitars TOO THINexcept this one.I am used to playing classic nylon string guitars, usually Yamahas like the Yamaha C40 Full Size Nylon-String Classical Guitar, although not that model, and electric stuff feels way too thin. I have to watch where I am putting my fingers and where I am plucking on an electric neck. Not on this neck, which feels thicker than other electrics, which to me need pixie fingers to play. This neck is very solid and will not warp, not on its own anyway. The frets are really thick and solid too, not cheap, and the machine heads are really solid. This box gest the job done, all around. The body is so heavy you might wnat to sit down, which helps gives it the solid sound and long sustain. It is the highest point of a lost civilization which never really came into being.Need a strat, for ANY reason (and who doesn't, really?)Have a hidden guitar hero you really love and want to make whole?get this.and it is Deep Bluefor your deepest bluesmine tooat long lastlong time comingsweet guitar...
This review is from: G&L Tribute Legacy Guitar (Blueburst, Hard Rock Maple Neck)The G&L Tribute Legacy series is a good value for an import Strat-style guitar. Prices are comparable to a Mexican-made Fender, but advantages of the G&L include a very pretty translucent finish over the swamp ash body, a 2-point tremolo, arguably better pickups, and G&L's unique PTB electronics. The pearl pickguard is a nice touch, the maple neck has a smooth satin finish and seems to be of reasonably good quality for an import. Pickups have strong output and aren't too noisy for single-coils. The included gig bag is sturdy with decent padding and convenient pockets.Contrary to other reviews, the Tribute series is currently manufactured in Indonesia. Setup from the factory wasn't great, but nothing demanding professional help: after adjusting the tremolo spring tension and truss rod my Tribute Legacy plays pretty well. For some reason the ground wire is soldered to one of the tremolo claws, meaning if I ever reconfigure the springs I'm going to have to re-solder that wire to the plate. Not a big deal, but annoying, since this guitar could benefit from some sort of tremolo stabilizer system (Hipshot, WD, etc...).While the finish is pretty, mine is a bit darker than the guitar as pictured, and almost looks black from some angles or in dim lighting. But I imagine with translu...
