Gibson SG Classic Faded Electric Guitar Worn Cherry

This review is from: Gibson SG Classic Faded Electric Guitar Worn CherryAmerican made Gibson SG with P-90's bound fretboard and real Gibson logo for less than 700 bucks? Couldn't pass it up and for the last month my other guitars have collected dust. It's so lightweight I can play for hours. The P-90's growl and sound great on both rhythm and lead. I love to overdrive them with fuzz...gnarly dude :) This guitar will only go up in value IMO! Late....

This review is from: Gibson SG Classic Faded Electric Guitar Worn CherryI purchased this guitar for a number of reasons. First, this will be my second SG with a P90 pickup. My SG jr P90 is one of the greatest guitars I have ever played in my 38 years of playing. I purchased IT in 2006. Second, I wanted the second pickup, third, the price was amazing when you consider it has a bound fretboard and an inlaid logo (my jr has a decal) and fourth, a friend of mine and I have had numerous discussions about the 'faded' Gibsons. We've come to the conclusion that while the heavily glossed Gibsons, like the regular SG Classic or even a Standard, are indeed pretty, there is a lot of tone lost in that laquer. This is actually my fourth SG, having owned a faded brown one and a Standard. While my faded brown SG gave that beautiful chime (I compare it to the first chord of 'Won't Get Fooled Again') the Standard sounded like junk and I eventually sold it even BEFORE the faded brown one. This one HAS THE CHIME! Run it through a 100 W tube head with a 4 X 12 and you will not be disappointed. Out of box setup needed a bit of adjusting, but came right in. Incredibly thick padded gigbag prefereable since it's certainly easier to haul it around in it as opposed to a hard case. Guitar is really lightweight and absolutely screams. P90's are some of the hottest, punk pickups out there. Total growl and gorgeous cleans. Absolutely worth the money and more. By the way... my jr has been going for almost $200.00 more than I paid for it on Ebay....

This review is from: Gibson SG Classic Faded Electric Guitar Worn CherryI have owned this sweet axe about 2 weeks now. This guitar to me is the same thing as the SG Classic(Minus the Classic truss rod cover and gloss finish).Setup out of the box is decent,Faded Cherry finish,Same SG classic tuners,White bound neck,Killer Gibson P-90 pickups.I have played the Classic SG at my local guitar store and I find no $300 difference between the 2,Except what I mentioned above and maybe more weight to the Regular classic. The gigbag it comes with is a plus too. This is my 2nd Gibson SG I own and am very pleased with it.Buy one today!!!!...
